"A comprehensive internal review has identified redundant, non-essential, non-statutory functions within ODOT&E that do not support operational agility or resource efficiency, affecting our ability to rapidly and effectively deploy the best systems to the warfighter," the defense secretary wrote in a new memo.
“In some cases, we lost some people that we wanted to lose, but we lost some people that we didn't want to lose," CIO of the Department of the Navy Jane Rathbun said.
“The Connecticut delegation has questions about why, with that [FY24] appropriation in hand, this happened,” said Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn.
"The current and future strategic environment requires immediate, comprehensive, and decisive action in strengthening and modernizing our defense industrial base ecosystem to ensure the security of the United States and our allies and partners. As this strategy makes clear, we must act now," Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks writes in a forward to the new National Defense Industrial Strategy.
